President's Research Awards

NZEALS offers two research awards to recognise work that has been completed and has contributed to the development of knowledge in the field of educational leadership, management and administration. Each of the two awards is for $1,000.

Applications for the President's Research Awards open on on 1 August and close on 30 September annually. The winners will be announced approximately one month after the closing date and the awards will be presented at the bi-annual NZEALS Conference.

This award recognises meritorious research and scholarship in the field of educational management, administration and leadership. Emerging researchers are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must

• be financial members of NZEALS
• have completed their research in the past two years
• have presented their research in the public arena by way of conference paper or publication.

The research should

• be relevant to the general field of educational leadership
• have a clear theoretical underpinning
• have innovative critical theory
• have ideas that challenge
• lead to change in practice
• have relevance to New Zealand

Applicants must provide

• A letter of application (3-4 pages) which details
  • the research aims
  • the methodology
  • a summary of findings
  • the relevance to New Zealand
  • the links to educational management, administration and leadership
• An abstract of the research (Please do not send the full paper.)
• A reference to the conference paper or publication

All of the above should be sent electronically with a hard copy as back up to the National Secretary, NZEALS by 5pm, 30 September annually.
