NZEALS Waikato - Guest speaker Patrick
Walsh, followed by networking.
Patrick Walsh is Principal of John Paul College, Rotorua;
Lawyer; Vice President of SPANZ; member of the Disciplinary
Tribunal of the NZ Teachers Council; NZ Law Society Presenter
on Education Law.
His presentation will be of
relevance to all education sectors, as legal issues in education
affect us all. The advent of ICT in schools and in the hands
of students has led to a number of discreet legal issues
including text bullying, extraterritoriality, freedom of
expression and jurisdictional powers and defamation. This
meeting will discuss the intention of technology, the law,
student rights and school powers including a DVD presentation.
Please encourage members of
your leadership team to join us for this learning opportunity,
and the discussion that will follow. |
