- Professor Mike Bottery • University of Hull, United
Kingdom
Dr. Michael Bottery is currently Professor of Education and Director
of Research degrees within the Institute of Education at Hull
University. He has been Visiting Lecturer at the University of
Saskatchewan, Noted Scholar at the University of British Columbia,
and Invited Professor at the University of Seattle Pacific. He
was Chair of the UK Standing Conference for Research into Education,
Leadership and Management for 2004-6. Currently he is Advisory
Professor the Hong Kong Institute of Education, 2006-9, having
previously been a Visiting Scholar there.
His research interests centre around investigations into the values
underpinning school management, and public sector management generally.
He has published six single authored, and one jointly authored
book, as well as numerous articles in peer-refereed journals.
His last book The Challenges of Educational Leadership
was published in 2004. His current research is an empirical examination
of the impact of global changes upon the day-to-day work of head
teachers in England and principals in Hong Kong.
Professor
Jill Blackmore • Deakin University, Australia
Dr Jill Blackmore is a Professor of Education in the Faculty of
Education, Deakin University. Her research interests include feminist
approaches to globalisation, education policy and governance;
educational leadership and reform; organisational change and innovation;
teachers' and academics’ work; and the changing relations
between the individual, community, family and the state. Publications
include Performing and Re-forming Leaders: gender, educational
restructuring and organisational change (with Judyth Sachs
2007, SUNY); Troubling Women: Feminism, Leadership and Educational
Change (1999, Open University Press); Answering Back
(with Kenway, Willis and Rennie 1998); Quality and Educational
Research (Special Issue Australian Educational Researcher
co-edited with Jan Wright 2006). She is past president of the
Australian Association of Research in Education (2002), past Managing
Editor of the Australian Educational Researcher, Regional
Editor of International Journal of Educational Leadership,
on the Editorial Board of British Educational Research Journal,
New Zealand Journal of Educational Leadership, and international
review panels of Journal of Education Policy, Globalisation, Societies,
Education etc. She undertakes professional development and policy
consultancies with professional and community organizations (principal,
teacher and parents), government and NGO (eg Victorian Council
of Social Services, Oxfam International), and community organizations.
She is on the Post-compulsory Curriculum Committee of the Victorian
Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
Dr
Kabini Sanga • Victoria University, Wellington
Kabini Sanga is a senior lecturer at the School of Education of
the Victoria University of Wellington where he is the co-director
of He Parekereke and Pacific Nations Programme Advisor. Kabini
has an international reputation for his work on Pacific leadership,
educational policy, international education, development education,
governance of higher education and indigenous research. Originally
from Malaita Island, in the Solomon Islands, Kabini has initiated
and managed the Rethinking Pacific Education Initiative (RPEI)
(2001-2006), an initiative which promotes leadership by Pacific
educators for education in Pacific countries and is funded by
the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID).
He is also involved with research in the Solomon Islands relating
to indigenous knowledge, clan-based development, leadership and
education, and ethical leadership training. Under the auspices
of Hope International Australia, this project offers training
in public ethics for Solomon Islands Parliament members. Recent
publications include International Aid Impacts on Pacific
Education which he co-edited with ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki
and Apem Moa, Solomon Islands Leadership which was co-edited
with Keith Walker. Kabini is an alumnus of the University of the
South Pacific, and three Canadian universities (Regina, Alberta,
and Saskatchewan).
- Hine Waitere • Massey University, Palmerston North
Hine Waiter is a senior lecturer at the College of Education Massey
University, Palmerston North. Of Tu Wharetoa descent, Hine’s
research interests have involved Maori women leaders in educational
contexts which traverse Maori immersion, bilingual and general
stream programmes. Winner of the Rae Munro Award in 2000 for her
Masters thesis on Maori women in educational leadership, Hine
was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 2001 to undertake her PhD
at Madison University with Michael Apple. Her recent work focuses
on the critical reflections of Maori educators making sense of
their own professional experiences and the questions they raise
about an educational system that must embrace an increasingly
brown student demographic.
Hine has written extensively on gender, racial and cultural differences
in publications such as Education and society in Aotearoa
New Zealand and the New Zealand journal of teachers’
work.
