Canterbury branch

It has been a tough year for educational leaders in Canterbury, but also a year in which many in education have shown outstanding leadership in the face of adversity and uncertainty.

Following a successful NZEALS conference in Christchurch in April last year (at the Grand Chancellor no less), then the September earthquake and after-shocks, NZEALS Canterbury had a quieter period. In April, we were back up and running with an extremely successful one-day workshop by the young and dynamic educational leader, Simon Breakspear. Then in May we had a belated AGM and informative seminar by the NZEALS visiting scholar, Stephen Jacobson.  Use your member login to find the presentation slides for these two speakers.

The NZEALS Canterbury branch committee have organised a number of seminars in 2011. These included a seminar related to the personal and professional well-being of educational leaders and a pre-election seminar to hear the ideas/policies on education from local political candidates.

We are very interested in the sorts of seminars you would like us to organise and the best day and time to hold such seminars (knowing that there is no one time that will suit everyone, we often have them at 4.30 on a Thursday).
