This book series, International Research on School Leadership
focuses on how challenges affect the theory and practice
of school leadership. Because the professional lives of school
leaders have increasingly impinged on their personal well-being and resources have continued to shrink,
it is important to understand how new
principals share and divide their energy, ideas, and time within
the school day. For these reasons, it is worthy to explore the rarely examined experiences of those who enter
the role as new principals. By giving voice to new
principals we are also able to determine what aspects of leadership
preparation ring true and what aspects prove
to be of little or no utility. Unlike leadership books that
have focused on conceptual considerations and personal
narratives from the field, the first book focuses on a collection
of empirical efforts centered on the challenges and
issues that new principals experience during their initial
and crucial years of induction. We are looking for
manuscripts that explore the multi-faceted dimensions of being
a new principal in the 21st century. Our goal is to
create an edited book that examines the commonalities and differences
that new principals experience from an
international perspective.

Call for Abstracts
The Conference committee welcomes the submission
of a range of presentations (individual papers, workshops
and symposia) at the 2010 NZEALS conference. We encourage
you to consider submitting an abstract irrespective of how
much previous experience you may have had at presenting at
a conference. We have provided pathways suitable for first-timers
through to experienced researchers.
During the conference, participants will
have ongoing opportunities to engage with each other in an
atmosphere of mutual learning. Therefore we expect all presentations
to have an interactive component to them: this can range
from having a question and answer slot through to facilitating
discussion groups over much of the presentation time with
the participants.
The Conference Presentation Review Committee
will try to ensure that there is a spread of symposiums and
workshops that cover the broad spectrum of education, both
in terms of sector and focus available at the same time for
conference participants; therefore it is very important that
as a potential presenter you identify your target audience
during the submission process.
You are able to submit
online until 21 September 2009.
During the submission process you will
be asked to
- indicate preference to present an 80 minute symposium
or 40 minute presentation
