A Passion for Quality: Teachers who make the difference.

NZEALS Auckland Branch, November Networking Dinner. A presentation from our guest speaker Professor Christopher Day.

Christopher Day is Professor of Education and Co-Director of the Teacher and Leadership Research Centre (TLRC). Prior to this he worked as a teacher, lecturer and local education authority adviser. His particular concerns centre upon the continuing development of teachers, teacher effectiveness, teachers' lives and work, successful school leadership, learning networks, action research and change.

Professor Day is the 2009 NZEALS Visiting Scholar, and his talk this evening will be about the three inner qualities of good and effective teachers and what his research tells us about the influences on teacher quality and the implication for school leaders.

NZEALS Auckland Branch, June Networking Dinner. Carol Cardno is Professor of Educational Management and Head of the Department of Education at Unitec and a Fellow of NZEALS.

“Kindergartens, Dilemmas and Action Research:  a recipe for leadership learning.”

The presentation will explore Carol's recent work with kindergarten teachers around managing leadership dilemmas but be will of interest to any one in an educational leadership position.

Associate Professor Graeme Aitken is Dean of Faculty of Education, University of Auckland.

Leading Change
This presentation will discuss the process of leading change in the Faculty of Education first from the perspective of Associate Dean in a newly merged organisation and then from the perspective as Dean. It will discuss similarities and differences between leadership roles at different levels of the organization, and discuss lessons learned.

Narottam Bhindi is the Director of the Australian Centre for Educational Leadership and is widely known for his innovative ideas about educational leadership.
